The Best Damn Thing is the third album by pop rock singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne and is going to be released on April 17, 2007. The album is said to be less mellow than previous Lavigne albums, and more upbeat. Avril described the record as: "fast, fun, young, bratty, aggressive, confident, cocky in a playful way...all the good stuff."
On Thursday February 1, 2007 Dr Luke said that the album version of "Keep Holding On" will be different from the Eragon version. On that same day, a press release containing the album's official cover was issued.
On February 18, 2006, AOL posted previews of three songs on the album: "Everything Back But You", "I Can Do Better", and "When You're Gone". It is suspected that the album will bear the Parental Advisory label because the term "motherf**king" is used in the track "Girlfriend", as well as many other anticipated instinces of profanity, specifically in the song "Everything Back But You". If the sticker is used, it will be the first of Lavigne's albums to have the label, but in some markets the label was used on Under My Skin.

Shine On is the second album by Melbourne rock band Jet, released in early October 2006. The title of the album was revealed on the band's website homepage. iTunes leaked the album in the Australian and UK stores on 16 September 2006, over two weeks before the actual release date.[1] After iTunes leaked the album, Shine On made its way onto file sharing sites through forums of similar bands and people shared that information with other people on Jet's MySpace page. On 23 September 2006, Triple J premiered the album on its Music Specials show along with interviews with the band. A day later, Nova 100 played the entire album on the radio as a preview.

Sam's Town is the second studio album by Las Vegas-based rock band The Killers. It was released in early October 2006 by Island Records and Lizard King Records. The album is said to be influenced by the works of Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, among others. Sam's Town received mixed reviews, with some praising the new sound direction and other's critiquing it.
